Caption Public Sector Logistics and Supply Chain Management Seminar
Description
Logistics and supply chain management is an important lever for public-sector performance and service delivery improvement. Because the spending base is quite large – procurement component alone accounts for one-third of total public spending or about 10 percent of GDP – improvements can have a substantial impact on budgets.
Inherent in the drive to bring the procurement component under an act of the National Assembly, is the need to ensure that all other components of logistics and supply chain in the public sector improve alongside it.
Thus, logistics and supply chain in the public sector encompasses all the activities executed to bring efficient services from the point of purchase to the final point of consumption.
Typical of public sector organisations with logistics and supply chain challenges include the NPF, NNPC, INEC, federal and state ministries of health, transport and works. Others include the CBN, PHCN, NRC, NCS, and NIS.
